On October 30th 2023, Imre Molnár met Katalin Karikó in Berlin. Katalin was recently awarded the the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine together with Drew Weissman for their discoveries concerning nucleoside base modifications that enabled the development of effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.
